Jacky & Andrew

Jacky & Andrew

Jacky and Andrew’s regal wedding reception took place at the California Club in Downtown Los Angeles. The couple was chauffeured from their church ceremony to their wedding reception in a magnificent vintage Rolls Royce.

The evening was sophisticated with candelabra centerpieces, gold chargers and votives. Mark’s Garden designed the rose pave centerpieces. We mixed golds and silver to add depth to the color palette. The monogrammed gold motif on the dance floor was the perfect photo opportunity for the couple to dance on for their first time as husband and wife. Fantasy Frostings created the beautiful wedding cake enjoyed by all! The Fry Girl arrived at the end of the evening with a “sweet” surprise! She served up delicious donuts for guests to take home with them.

Fall Wedding Tips

Fall Wedding Tips

Fall is here and the air is turning crisp! If you are a bride looking for ways to incorporate the season into your wedding …we have the perfect subtle decor tips to help make it happen!

Your color scheme is the quickest way to achieve an autumn theme. We love warm tones such as rust, gold, champagne, deep green and cocoa browns. When it comes to floral decor incorporate wild berries and exposed stems into your centerpieces with seasonal red and orange flowers. Candlelight sets a romantic mood, try votives and pillar candles on the table. We love to include visual cues of the season such as: apple cider, pumpkins, squash, gourds, cinnamon sticks and candy apples.

Depending on where you live, your wedding can be indoors or outdoors at this time of year. If you decide to host an outdoor wedding use Mother Nature as decor. Try up lighting trees for a dramatic effect rather than suspending lights from the trees. Serve a soup with dinner and have a s’more station for dessert. Give pashminas or mugs filled with candy for guests as favors. As guests leave, send them off with an insulated thermos to go with a hot chocolate and warm cookies for their drive home.

Brooke and Jason’s Engagement Party

Brooke and Jason’s Engagement Party

The night was just as we had imagined and it was a great way to kick off Brooke and Jason’s “engagement year” with their closest friends and family surrounding them.tumblr_inline_nbe96gPzxi1sg510k

As guests walked into their parents’ backyard (their venue for the evening), they passed apothecary jars filled with hot pink and blue candy. That was our color scheme of the night, and we wanted to introduce it right away.  tumblr_inline_nbe96vJQr51sg510k

We covered cocktail tables with blue linens and placed hot pink roses on them to give the backyard a pop, and stick with the color pallet, of course.  tumblr_inline_nbe98wqOT61sg510k

Their signature cocktails, The “Blushing Bride” and “The Old Fashioned Groom” featured their favorite mixed drinks. We placed the signage for the bar in Lucite frames, and had personalized stir sticks for Jason ‘s drink and hot pink paper straws for Brooke’s. The stir sticks and straws were placed in votive candleholders to create a detailed look.

The caterer, The Kitchen For Exploring Foods, outdid themselves, and no guest went hungry. They added succulents to their presentation for cocktail hour. That was a creative and current touch that didn’t go unnoticed. tumblr_inline_nbe9u0BwEW1sg510k

Classic Party Rentals created lounge areas where guests were able to take a break from the crowd. We placed candy in candy dishes to make the space an inviting spot for guests to enjoy a cocktail or catch up with friends.   tumblr_inline_nbeabdsgwO1sg510k tumblr_inline_nbeaomq6q81sg510k

To fit our theme of casual dining, we filled hot pink Chinese take out containers with salads so guests were able to mingle while eating.  tumblr_inline_nbearnnBsD1sg510k

Lanterns were hung from the trees to add a charm and light to the space. They were a great focal point for the evening, and their reflection into the pool lit up the night. tumblr_inline_nbeauaCRZe1sg510k tumblr_inline_nbeautpI3a1sg510k

The night was absolute perfection! A big thank you to Love Bethany Photography for capturing the night.  Let the wedding planning begin!

Cover your exposed wood display table with real autumn leaves in lieu of table linens.Create various levels for your food presentation— using flat rounds of wood to hold the buffet platters.  Create a beautiful “cheese wedding cake” layer 3 various sizes of cheese to be placed on one another, and display on a cake stand to create the look. Serve your cheese with an over-flowing basket of fresh breads will be the center of your attention. Jelly jars filled with breadsticks and white bowls of  olives, tapenades , bruschetta and hummus will add to the yummy combinations for the perfect table. Large wooden bread boards can be used to display the Charcuterie items. Gather items from your personal kitchen decor, or plan a trip to a flea market,  to enhance your tables.  Cheese platters, menu boards, Canisters, Copper molds, porcelain or wooden objects or signage are great to place in between your buffet platters. Magical Wedding of Karen and Fraser

Magical Wedding of Karen and Fraser

The magical wedding of Karen and Fraser took place at Calimigos Ranch… creating a rustic-chic setting for their storybook romance.
Surrounded by 220 guests, their wedding ceremony was filled with love, beauty and meaning. As they shared their vows, everyone was very aware that they had met their perfect match. The twinkling lights strung through the trees enhanced the natural garden flowers of creams, lavender and pinks.

The Cocktail Reception offered a fabulous Charcuterie Presentation, in addition to lawn games and a vintage photo booth. The escort cards were secured onto 3 large weathered windows and drinks were served from vintage furniture pieces to keep the comfortable feeling of being in someone’s home.
Karen looked truly magnificent in her JLM Couture wedding gown and her hair was beautifully adorned with an antique brooch. Photos on the property lent to the classic and romantic feel of the evening.

The Dinner Reception was held under a beautiful twinkle lit canopy with a grouping of crystal chandeliers suspended over the head table. Guests sat at a mixture of farm tables and round tables detailed with chic tabletop accents to make guests “ohh and ahh”. Each guest had a fresh bread flute waiting for them at their place. It came in a bakery bag that had the menu for the evening printed on it. A sprig of fresh lavender was tucked into each napkin that was placed on a mixture of different charger plates.

After dinner, the guests entered into another room, where the band was playing their first dance,”Hey Ho”— a perfect choice to reflect their fun personalities.

The evening was a celebration that never stopped. With the dance floor filled all night long… Karen and Fraser had the wedding they had always dreamed about. A grand dessert presentation was set on the outside porch, along with coffee and hot chocolate being served. Everyone enjoyed each and every surprise along the way and were so sad when the evening was over.

Invitations are the introduction to your wedding and should reflect the theme, scheme and style of your Big Day. We know “invitation etiquette” can be daunting, so we are sharing our FAQ’s.

Q: If the Bride’s parents are throwing the wedding, how can I honor the Groom’s parents on the invitation?

A: If the parents of the Bride are hosting, then their names go on the top of the invitation, and the Groom’s parents will be recognized after his name…

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jones

Request the Pleasure of Your Company

at the Marriage of Their Daughter

Natalie Michelle
to

John Bradley Richards

son of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Richards

Q: What should I include in a “More Information” or enclosure card?

A: I would create a Hotel Accommodation card, offering 3 different hotel choices at 3 different price levels.

I would also create a separate card for guests invited to the weekend activities, i.e. Rehearsal Dinner and After-Wedding Brunch

Q: Does the Rehearsal Dinner information belong in my invitation suite?
A: Rehearsal Dinner information can be put on a separate “Weekend Activities” card in the invitation envelope. Make sure to write whom the dinner hosted by.

You can also have the Parents of the Groom, or whoever is hosting the dinner, send out a separate invitation independently.

Q: Do I Include my registry information in the invitation suite?
A: I NEVER recommend that. Registry information on the Save the Date is much more appropriate.

Q: How do I know what stamps to use?
A: I like to use personalized stamps for all invitations. You can use a photo, or use your font and wedding colors to stylize your stamp. Zazzle.com has great options!

Q: How do I know what size stamps to get?
A: Think larger for larger invitations and smaller for return envelopes. Make certain to take an assembled sample invitation to the post office to weigh it before ordering stamps.

5 Ways to Personalize Your Wedding

5 Ways to Personalize Your Wedding

Clearly no one loves detailing a wedding more then we do. However, we are the first to admit, it’s not JUST about the details that make your Big Day memorable. Personalizing your wedding is another way to create a one of a kind event!

These are my top 5 tips to make your wedding day your own.

1. Instead of a traditional photo booth, display a step-and-repeat with your names and/or monogram for guests to take pictures in front of.

tumblr_inline_n9furnGzUp1sg510k

2. Serve a specialty cocktail. Add personalized napkins, color-schemed straws, or stir sticks for a special touch.

tumblr_inline_n9fuucu4qA1sg510k

3. Include your monogram on paper goods, your wedding cake and/or the dance floor.

tumblr_inline_n9fuw6kQcI1sg510k

4. Create “surprise entertainment” by coordinating a dance or song with your Groom or Bridal Party.

5. Showcase a personalized cake topper that highlights your favorite hobby as a couple.

Bar Mitzvah at Brentwood Country Club

Bar Mitzvah at Brentwood Country Club

This was a very special Bar Mitzvah at the Brentwood Country Club for 300 guests including 150 of the birthday boy’s friends. The colors for the bash were blue and orange with mirror and silver accents.

To keep with our contemporary masculine design, we decided to use as few flowers as possible and included more objects into the design with clean lines and geometric patterns. The centerpieces for the table consisted of three heights of mirrored vases filled with orange crystals illuminated with light up rocks underneath. We wanted the guests to feel like they were in their very own Vegas Club for kids! The kids had a game room with casino tables, a Photo Booth and a temporary tattoo artists while the adults treated themselves to signature cocktails.

Someone’s in the Kitchen served up some tasty appetizer specials! Food stations were set up to serve Pinks Hot Dogs, Baby Bad Ass Burgers, catering from Brentwood Country Club and Somone’s in the Kitchen. All of the servers wore inital shirts for the birthday boy! As we like to say, it’s all in the details!

The halo dance floor was surrounded by white tufted lounge furniture and light up tables. Chevron cocktail tables also lines the dance floor where guests dances all night long with their blinking rings and hats! The Fry Girl Truck also made a late night stop for midnight snacks. This was a night to remember for all!! Thank you for the gorgeous photos, Curtis Dahl Photography.

Detailing Your Bridal Shower

Detailing Your Bridal Shower

Our bride decided that she wanted the design of her bridal showered to be inspired by the love detailed vintage pink and gold design, made up of etched gold glass and sweet pink details including florals from Hidden Garden. She loved the idea of having a vintage inspired, feminine wedding shower at the Brentwood Country Club. The day began with a champagne bar outside and moved indoors for a delicious lunch. The bride’s 30 guests were seated at one long table with farm chairs. We hope you enjoy the tips below on detailing your bridal shower!

The guest’s escort cards doubled as take home favors. We used the bride’s favorite Voluspa candles in organza bags.

We layered floral containers on gold vanity trays and added strands of pearls to elevate the vintage look.

A vintage inspired pink ceramic flower was used in lieu of a napkin ring. Guests could also take these home as a special gift.

Cake!

Cake!

It’s no secret that we love a spectacular wedding cake at Linda Howard Events! Ari & Rebecca’s two night wedding celebration included three show-stopping cakes. Our bride wanted her first wedding cake to match the modern feeling at Nobu, Malibu so she went with a square design to make the look cohesive. She also loved orchids so we wanted to incorporate the orchids into the cake design to play off the centerpieces and her bouquet. We added their monogram from their  invitations to the second tier and created a fondant gold ribbon around each layer.

148

The couple’s second cake was the “wow factor” for guests walking in the door of the Avalon Theater for “night two” of their celebration. The 9-tier wedding cake, carved out of ice, stood 8 feet tall- again, displaying their monogram. The cake was draped with a lush garland of real orchids.

0151

For the third cake, the bride and groom wanted to go “out of the box.” The happy couple had just bought a home together, so making an edible replica of their new home was the perfect idea! The guests were blown away… and as much as they loved seeing it— they loved eating it!
